18

18.   It's been 18 months since we moved to Maine.   On one hand, it feels like it has flown by and there is no way it could be that long already.   On the other hand, it feels like we've been here 18 years, away from friends and family in Texas.  This I can say for certain - Maine is still one of the most beautiful places I've ever lived (and I've lived in a few!).

We have learned much, and there are many things stirring in our heads and hearts.   It's been a lot of fun learning to press into the Holy Spirit and catch His heart in the ebbs and flows of every day life.  There really is a sweet simplicity to releasing our agendas and just walking with Him throughout the day.   If only it were easy!

This last month has been a very busy one for us.   Along with the sunshine and warmer temps, summer  brings in a lot of work for Paul in both jobs.   Home Inspections have been up with fully scheduled weeks and waiting lists!   And of course, wedding season is in full swing, so beginning on June 6, every Saturday (and a few more nights scattered here and there) until October is booked with the band!   This is HUGE blessing, as it allows us to replenish savings and prepare for a slower winter season.

This week marks my last week of training at my job.   Overall it's been great, though, as anyone in insurance claims will tell you, there are always good days and a few harder ones.  I'm looking forward to getting into my own routine and finding a better work/life balance.   It's certainly been an adjustment to get back into corporate America!   I am also still working on my book, though admittedly I haven't been as focused on that lately as I need to be.

Other than work, things have pretty much slowed down for us, which leaves us with mixed feelings.   As stated above, we are learning that the Holy Spirit loves to walk with us, and that different seasons bring different lessons, and this is healthy.   We are discovering that there is freedom in allowing Him to be responsible for results so we can focus simply on relationships - both with Him and those around us.   It's an interesting place to be for those of us who are a little more type A than others (like me!).

If you're wondering how you can pray for us, here are a few things that would be helpful:
  • My health, especially in regards to fertility.   There has been a lengthy attack on my system, especially aggressive these last 3 months, and it's exhausting physically, emotionally, and spiritually.   We know that God is faithful to His Word, and His promises can be trusted, and His goodness is what keeps our hope alive, but perseverance is not the most fun of journeys.  :-)
  • Continued Marketing Strategies for Paul's Home Inspection Business.  Much of his summer work is overflow from his boss' network, and while we're grateful for the work we would rather have it come from Paul's own network (this is what breeds consistency in workflow).
  • I noted above that we have many things that are stirring in our heads and hearts, and we are yearning to catch the Father's heartbeat in them.   I realize this sounds vague and ominous, and that is not the intent, but sometimes when things are swirling it's best to remain in a place of quietness.  All of that to say, please pray!

We adore you, friends and family, and we miss y'all like crazy!  Our doors are still open  - COME SEE US!!!  You will not be disappointed, I promise!    Until next time....much love from your favorite Mainiacs!
